What were
you doing 48 years ago? Mike Flack was just beginning his performance career in music via the Junior choir at the First Baptist Church in Osage, Iowa.
Fast forward to 1964 when Mike and his father, Pat, were cleaning the Zildjian marching cymbals of the Osage Precisionnaires Drum & Bugle Corps by using Brasso and a whole lot of Irish elbow grease!
This is the same year the ten year old Mr. Flack began his 45 year long promotional and sales experience knocking on doors in benefit to the American Legion sponsored drum corps from Osage, Iowa.
Innovation, creativity and entertainment were basic staples of this crowd-pleasing group of boys and later, girls. Fast forward once again to 1975 and this Drum Corps International member corps performed with the latest equipment in a jazz & funk style while dressed in Super Fly outfits of gold and black incorporated within a 31 person marching battery drum line which included Mike Flack in the 8 man snare line.
His professional musical career on drum set and Latin percussion began in 1977.
Percussion instruction began in 1973 and continues today as Mike learns as much from his students as they learn from him.
These percussive inventions on this website had their beginnings in 2003 from necessity and need of affordable choices left void by the market place then AND now! He just wanted to play the jingle ring with his foot while playing the quinto, conga, and tumbadora Latin drums with his hands. He also wanted to pick up the jingle ring, shake it and then drop it back into its holder in order to keep playing it with his foot. Or, using two devices (one with each foot), he could sound like several percussionists at once.
Thus, the Dos y Cuatro was invented to play a loose jingle ring or hard bracketed trap
(ie. cowbell, woodblock, jam block). The accompanying case (Trapak) allows the device
and several other traps safe travel and protection in transit.
The 28 reed Flack Wackers® sticks are a tough and dynamically desirable choice for drummers and percussionists around the world allowing adjust-ability using an ergonomically designed handle to absorb shock while exploring an array of sound!

This is the link for the video which shows the Cajun Reed sticks and the Dos y Cuatro in action. The blue K-mart garden tub is being supported by a snare drum stand. Notice the acoustic pleasantries on a non-musical device. You don't even need a musical instrument to create great sounds... but, it would enhance the sounds in most people's opinion.
